Meet The Elsmores!

Hi all, and thanks for checking out our site! We thought we’d use our first blog post to introduce ourselves, give an overview of our journey so far, and outline some of our hopes and aspirations for the future.

We’re Harry & Lucy Elsmore, a newly married couple, living in a quiet English village, with our rescue cat, Titian.

In 2021, we bought our first home together, and the renovation of this 1890’s cottage is a continuing project! Having previously rented a first floor flat, covering 450 square ft, with zero outside space, the transition to having a home with a garden has really prompted us to throw ourselves all in to our homesteading dream.

We got married in October 2023, hosting our reception at a local village hall, with locally sourced produce, handmade decorations, and home grown flowers. It was really important for us that the day had a minimal environmental impact and we’ll be sharing some of our learnings from this in future posts.

We hope to share with you the highs-and-lows of our journey towards being self-sufficient, as we navigate growing our own food, reducing our energy consumption, and working to make our tiny suburban homestead a success.
